These "selections" will be from various men of God commenting on various topics with the goal of provoking a deeper appreciation of our Lord Jesus Christ and to facilitate obedience to the admonition given in II Peter 3:18 – “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ.”
This second selection is from Dr. John MacArthur, Pastor of Grace Community Church in Panarama City, CA. MacArthur is discussing the critical issues involving the Emergent church movement.

Gregg, I so appreciate these video clips. Short but very powerful. I am concerned about the emerging churches and teachings. The reason is, it seems that the truth of God's Word is being seen as too harsh and therefore, there must be a revamping of the Word to more comfortably fit our current lifestyle and comfort zone. How sad. Acturally tragic. It makes me more aware of how I must pray for discernment so that I might not get caught up in this movement. I want my life to be held accountable against the Word of God. I was never promised comfort and the narrow path was never presented as conforming to my lifestyle. Lord have mercy on us! Thanks Gregg. God bless.

What ever happened to discernment in the church? Some of the false teachings around today are so obviously unbiblical that you would think even a Sunday school kid would have enough discernment to spot them!

It's true that you cannot really learn anything about a church by reading their faith statement anymore. As MacArthur said, it's how they interpet it and how it's applied. And you don't know that until you've actually went there.
I have a friend who's been looking for a church home and he carefully looks over the faith statement, finds one that sounds good, and ends up with the same old watered down stuff once he actually goes.
